Vision and Mission

The Mission of the Northside Community Church is

to make disciples of Jesus Christ that transform the world.

The church is participating in the Mission of God by Believing, Belonging, and Blessing. Throughout history, we see that vibrant churches have always had these three areas of focus, which we also refer to as being Spiritual, Relational, and Missional.

Our mission is to help people Believe in God through His Son Jesus Christ.

We want people to understand Who Jesus is and to accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ can change our lives in ways that we never could. We want people to be able to experience His life changing love and power.

Our mission is to help people Belong.

Our American culture has become very individualistic. Human nature is very self-centered. And yet, God has created us for community. We have an inherent social need for friendships and community. We need to experience healthy relationships in a healthy community. We all need to belong to something that is bigger than ourselves.

Our mission is to Bless.

We have been saved to serve. We have been blessed to be a blessing. Christianity is not about being selfish. Christianity is about giving ourselves away for the life of the world. Jeremiah 29 says that we are “seek the welfare of the community where God has sent us, for in its welfare, we will find our welfare.” Our welfare is found in the welfare of the community where we live. God loves Terre Haute. God cares about Terre Haute. God has called us to move out of our building, move off of our campus, and join what Jesus is already doing in our neighborhood, as we follow the Spirit into the streets. Our desire is to make a difference in our community in real, tangible ways, so that people will see the love and power of God at work in our lives. We have been called to serve. We hope you will join us as we serve God by serving our community.

Put another way, our mission is to Love God, Love our neighbor, and Love our neighborhood. Jesus said that two greatest commandments were to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus’ great commission is to go into all the world to make disciples of all peoples. That is our mission. In John 20:21, Jesus said, “As the Father has sent Me, so I send you.” All of us who are following Jesus have now been sent out into the world to serve Him, to follow Him on this journey through life. We invite you to join us on this journey, as we learn more about Who Jesus is, how believing in Him can change our lives, and how following Him can make a difference in the world in which we live. Our Vision is to disciple unchurched people into a redemptive community that brings hope to our city. We hope that you will join us in making this vision a reality.
